Common terms in the Olari platform
1. CIWA = Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment
i. Used in the assessment and management of withdrawal from alcohol or anything other than opiates/opioids, fentanyl, or "butes" (aka Phenylbutazone)
2. COWS = Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale
i. An assessment tool designed to determine the severity of withdrawal symptoms in opioid-dependent patients, this includes Fentanyl and "butes" (aka Phenylbutazone)
3. PIE = Problem Intervention Evaluation
4. ETOH = Ethyl Alcohol (EtOH)
5. Client = The resident in facility; Olari customer’s customer
6. Customer = The account holder; Olari’s customer that owns/operates the facility
7. User = Account holder’s designated contacts who will access the system
8. ePHI = Electronic Protected Health Information
9. H&P = History & Physical
10. HIPAA = Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, protects certain health information from unauthorized use and disclosure by covered entities, such as health plans, health care providers/facilities, clearinghouses, health care business associates and contractors.
11. HIE = Electronic Health Information Exchange
12. Clearinghouse = Refers to a vendor that processes healthcare transactions and translates data into a format acceptable for commercial insurers and other payers. It checks claims for errors and ensures that payers process claims correctly. Thereby streamlining the electronic claims submission process for its users.
13. MAT = Medication Assisted Treatment; means the use of medication in combination with behavioral health services to provide an individualized approach to the treatment of substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder.
14. MET = Motivational Enhancement Therapy; built on motivational interviewing principles and philosophy to strategically facilitate positive behavior change by affirming self-efficacy and evoking natural client incentives and resourcefulness.
15. Twelve-Step Immersion/Program = Addiction treatment programs deeply rooted in the principles and practices outlined by the Twelve Steps of recovery, originally developed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Programs emphasize personal accountability, spiritual growth, and community support, providing a structured pathway to recovery for individuals struggling with addiction.
16. Billable Beds = The number of beds billable to Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance.
17. Direct Contract Agreements = Billing agreements, with Agencies and/or Counties, that are separate from insurance.
18. Addiction Assessment = A way to determine the presence and severity of chemical dependency in a client (considers sociological, psychological, physical, and family factors, etc.)
19. Opioids vs Opiates =
i. Opiates are naturally occurring compounds, such as morphine, codeine and opium, that come directly from the opium poppy plant.
ii. Opioids are a broader category that includes opiates, as well as synthetic versions like fentanyl, methadone, and tramadol, and semi-synthetic versions like oxycodone, hydrocodone, heroin, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, and oxymorphone.
20. Narcan = An over-the-counter drug that treats opioid overdose
21. SSDI = Social Security Disability Insurance
22. ESRD = End Stage Renal Disease; aka End-Stage Kidney Disease
23. Medicaid vs Medicare = Each serves different populations and has specific eligibility criteria and benefits.
i. Medicare: A federal health insurance program for people aged 65 or older, and for younger individuals with certain disabilities. It includes hospital insurance (Part A), medical insurance (Part B), Medicare Advantage (Part C), and prescription drug coverage (Part D)
ii. Medicaid: A joint federal and state program that helps with medical costs for those with limited income. Eligibility and benefits vary by state, covering services like nursing home care and personal care services, usually with minimal to no cost-sharing
24. CCA = Comprehensive clinical assessments an intensive clinical and functional evaluation of an individual presenting mental health and substance use condition that results in the clinical summary of a written report providing a mental health and/or substance use disorder diagnosis. The assessment will be used to determine if client meets criteria for admission.
25. PHQ = Personal Health Questionnaire is a widely used tool in substance recovery facilities to screen, discover, monitor, and measure the severity of depression. Addressing both substance abuse and mental health issues can significantly improve clients' outcomes
26. What is Inovalon? The clearinghouse that Olari contracts with for all insurance billing
i. Billing to Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance.
ii. Direct Contract Billings are not processed through Clearinghouse.
27. Faith-based Recovery = Recovery programs based upon a framework of religious experiences, beliefs, and rituals that are used as alternatives for regular addiction treatment.
28. Peer Mentors = Recovering addicts and alcoholics that are active participants at the facility, help others suffering from addiction as they enter and move through the program.
29. CPT - Current Procedural Terminology - codes used to report medical, surgical, and diagnostic procedures, used in billing
30. HCPCS - Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System - codes used to report products, supplies, and services not included in the CPT code set, used in billing
31. ICD-10 - International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Edition - codes used to report a patient diagnosis, used in billing
32. NDC - National Drug Code - a three-segment number used to identify finished, unfinished, and compounded drug products
33. NPI - National Provider Identifier - a 10-digit code assigned to each provider (can also be assigned as a type 2 organizational NPI) used to identify who provided ser
